Updated over a week ago

Connected North Sessions are live, interactive learning experiences delivered to classrooms through video conferencing technology.

Since the program was founded in 2013, more than 1 million minutes of Connected North programming has been delivered to schools by over 300 Content Providers.

Connected North Sessions are delivered by our network of Content Providers committed to providing meaningful learning experiences to students. Content Providers include:

  • First Nations, Inuit and Métis professionals, creatives, role models and Elders

  • Cultural Institutions, such as art galleries and museums

  • Educational Institutions, such as science centres, zoos, and aquariums

  • Non-profit Organizations with a mandate to support education in certain areas

  • Post-secondary Institutions, sharing information about their programs

The vast majority of Connected North Sessions are private interactions between the classroom and Content Provider, hosted by a member of the Connected North Team.

However, we also offer special sessions which are joined by more than one classroom. These sessions are often listed for registration in the Events section of the platform:

  • Premium Sessions, with a celebrity guest like Buffy Sainte-Marie or Mitch Marner, who are not available for 1:1 private sessions

  • Open Professional Development sessions, such as Math Mondays, where educators join across of wide variety of schools

  • Spotlight Sessions, with new content providers, offering an opportunity to sample their programming alongside a number of other classrooms
