Are Connected North Sessions recorded?
Updated over a week ago

Yes, Connected North records most sessions for the purposes of internal program evaluation, curriculum alignment, training and content provider feedback. Some sessions are not recorded due to cultural protocols, legal or copyright limitations, or during Professional Development with discussion of sensitive topics.

Each Session receives a rating from the teacher, content provider and session host on staff at Connected North. Following the ratings and comments, any concerns raised have additional review by team members to watch the recording to identify areas for improvement, enhanced customization recommendations and training.

Recordings of sessions may also be edited (without students being identifiable) for the purpose of sharing 1-2 minute excerpts for teachers about what the content provider covers in a session. These clips featuring highlights are housed within the Educator Platform for teachers browsing to plan for sessions they would like to book. In some cases, clips from content providers have been pulled and featured on the Content Provider Best Practices resource page to highlight examples of exemplary approaches to meeting program expectations.

Recordings have helped the program understand technical issues if there are outages and they have also helped us respond to growing program demands. If there is ever an instance where one of our staff miss a session due to unforeseen personal circumstances, the recording allows us to confirm the delivery and payment to the content provider.

Our expectations of high program quality are met at a large volume of sessions because of the mechanisms and processes in place for follow-up on any reported concerns related to issues that arise on the program delivery.

Session recording videos are not distributed publicly. Currently, there are over 2,000 unique sessions offered and available as part of the Connected North program. Recorded sessions serve as an archive internally for staff members (School Leads) who may want to see the full experience offered in a session before it is recommended to teachers asking for recommendations.

Session recordings are typically deleted after 3 years, though in some cases, the archive of a recording may be required to keep on file as a reference for program quality and internal information-sharing purposes related to the topics and approaches covered by the content provider.
