Navigating the Touchpad

When you first look at the touchpad, it will look like this:

  • Your school name will appear in the top left corner

  • There will be a call button that you can click on to join a meeting

    • If you have an upcoming meeting, it will appear on the screen instead of the buttons below.

  • To access the camera control options, click on the < arrow on the right side of the screen

Camera Controls

After opening the settings by clicking on the arrow on the right side of the touchpad screen:

If you click on the camera control button, you will see:

  • A ‘Selfview’ button that allows you to turn on/off selfview

    • When selfview is on, you will see a small box with video of yourself on the main screen. Some classes find it distracting for the students, others prefer to have it on. Choose whichever suits you and your class.

  • Camera button will open a window to move the unit’s camera around and to zoom in or out

    • Feel free to adjust the camera positions to suit your needs

Unit Settings

In the top left corner of the touchpad screen, you should see the name of your school.

  • If you see ‘No Network Connection’ that means that the unit is not connected to the Internet;

    • Please check if the Ethernet cable is plugged into an ethernet jack/port

    • If you are connecting with wifi, you may need to check the network settings on the unit (see below)

  • If you see ‘Not Registered’, that means there is something else stopping the unit from connecting to the back end. (For schools in Nunavut, the Ethernet cord may not be connected to a Connected North-activated port.) Please reach out to Tinisha Steinman to fix:

To access the unit settings, click on the arrow on the right side of the screen, then select the ‘Device Settings’ button.

  • Issues and Diagnostics: If you are having problems with the unit, check for any issues here.

    • If you have issues listed, please reach out to Tinisha Steinman to fix;

    • Phone: 416-977-9363 x321

  • Network Connection: You can change the wifi settings by clicking into ‘Network Connection’ then ‘WiFi’ to change the wifi network or enter the password.

    • Please note, it is preferred to run the unit with an Ethernet cable where possible for the best connection.

Enabling Music Mode:

If you are joining a music session, where the students will be playing instruments, please enable music mode. This will ensure that the instrument audio will be picked up and not filtered out.

To enable Music Mode:

  1. Click on the arrow on the right side of the screen

  2. Click into ‘Microphone’

3. Click into ‘Music Mode’

Once Music Mode is enabled, you can toggle between Neutral, Noise Removal and Music Mode.

Note: If Music Mode does not appear here, you may need to enable it in the Device Settings. Go to Device Settings > Microphone > Music Mode > Enable by toggling the slider.

If you would like to schedule a time to test your unit or in-classroom systems, please contact your school lead and Tinisha Steinman at [email protected]
